Legal Counsel – Workplace Relations
Sydney
12-24 month FTC
Hybrid flexible working

This is a great opportunity for a workplace relations lawyer to join a small, high-performing in-house team supporting a well-established, values-led membership organisation.

In this role, you’ll be advising and representing employers on a wide range of workplace relations issues. You'll advise on everything from day-to-day performance management queries through to litigation and enterprise bargaining. The work is varied, the team is collaborative, and the member base is highly engaged.

You’ll also contribute to education and training, help develop resources and content, and play a key role in driving practical, commercially sound outcomes for members. It’s a great fit for someone who enjoys building relationships, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants their work to have a direct impact.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing timely, accurate and practical advice on workplace relations matters
  • Representing member organisations in disputes, including before courts and tribunals
  • Supporting enterprise agreement negotiations and approvals
  • Delivering workplace relations training and education, including webinars and presentations
  • Drafting articles and resources in plain English
  • Promoting internal legal and digital services to members
  • Mentoring junior staff and reviewing work as needed


What we’re looking for:

  • A 4-5 PQE qualified lawyer with experience advising employers in workplace relations
  • Strong knowledge of the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards and enterprise agreements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident advocacy, negotiation and dispute resolution experience
  • An organised, responsive and solutions-focused approach


This role will be a 12 month FTC with the strong likelihood of extension for an extra 12 months once completed.
