T+O+M Executive and I are working exclusively with a construction industry leader with an impressive project portfolio across Australia to recruit a construction industry experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join their finance team at the heart of the Sydney CBD. They lead the industry in high end commercial and industrial constructions, partnering with both private and government entities to deliver some of the iconic projects in Sydney and Melbourne.

With a current pipeline valued over $1.5bn, this company is growing significantly with major acquisitions and joint ventures. Senior Financial Accountant will report to the Head of Finance and will suite a candidate with over 5 years of construction industry accounting experience.

 

Role responsibilities:

  • Manage preparation of Annual and half year financial statements, statutory reporting, assist with business activity statement (BAS) and other financial reports for internal and external users.
  • Partner with finance team to ensure statutory, regulatory, internal reporting and taxation compliance, including debt covenant compliance for separately funded joint venture projects
  • Assist with technical accounting papers in accordance with the Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Partner with the business to provide financial insights on business and operational activities.
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable processes to ensure the AP & AR functions operate efficiently and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with external audit requirements.
  • Develop and maintain financial/accounting policies, procedures, and any process documentation to ensure compliance with internal best practice and legislative requirements
  • Assist the Tax & Structure team with management of a stapled trust structure including inter-entity journals.
  • Support with the integrity of taxation records & compliance with relevant taxation provisions (Income Tax) including Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and tax lodgment requirements.
  • Assist with trust distribution statements and tax provision calculations for flow through trusts.
  • Continuous process improvements and ad hoc reporting and required

About you:

  • CA/ CPA qualified with over 5 years of career experience in a statutory reporting focused role.
  • Ideally experienced in the construction, property or asset management industry.
  • Training within an audit firm is not a must but will be highly regarded.
  • High attention to detail and strong business partnering skills.
  • Strong Excel skills.
