A leading insurer is looking for a risk systems manager to implement the new GRC system into the newly established business. This greenfield role is a great opportunity for an experienced risk systems manager to report to the CRO directly and take ownership over the implementation.

Job Advertisement: Manager, Risk & Assurance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to ensure the successful rollout and maintenance of the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) system, including providing monthly project reports to the Executive Committee (ExCo).
  • Coordinate the rollout of all GRC modules, managing queries and issues with the GRC service provider, escalating matters as necessary.
  • Assist with the delivery of the Risk and Compliance Management Procedures and related training, and contribute to the enhancement of GRC reporting for regulatory compliance under CPS 230.
  • Collaborate with the Risk & Compliance team to implement GRC systems and align with risk management processes across the organization.
  • Work cross-functionally with senior stakeholders, departments, and broader staff to drive the success of the GRC system.
  • Support the CRO in fostering a strong risk culture throughout the business and promoting effective risk management and compliance practices.

Key Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification and at least 5-7 years of experience, including financial services experience.
  • Strong understanding of APRA prudential standards and familiarity with ASIC requirements for ACL and AFSL license holders (preferred but not required).
  • Proven project management and planning experience, with the ability to deliver results under tight deadlines and competing objectives.
  • Excellent stakeholder relationship management skills, with a focus on partnership and customer service.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • A commercial mindset and curiosity about how the business relates to its risk management strategy.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and negotiation skills, with a proactive approach to risk and compliance activities.
