Job description

Our client, a well-established player in the banking sector, is seeking an experienced Head of Treasury for a 6-month contract role with the possibility of extension. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic team while managing critical Treasury operations, including liquidity, funding, and interest rate risk, ensuring financial stability and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liquidity Management: Oversee daily management of liquidity and wholesale funding (short and long-term).
  • Risk Management: Lead interest rate risk management, including the execution of approved derivatives to mitigate risks (ALM).
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to Treasury policies, APRA prudential standards, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing Treasury team, fostering a collaborative and risk-aware culture.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Manage relationships with external parties, including rating agencies, wholesale counterparties, and industry bodies.
  • Reporting: Provide key insights to senior management and relevant committees, including the Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO).

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive Experience: At least 10 years in senior Treasury leadership roles, with expertise in financial markets treasury management and technical skills in dealing, pricing, and risk management.
  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Economics, or related fields. AFMA dealer accreditation (Debt Markets pathway) and ACA/CPA are required. Postgraduate qualifications are a plus.
  • Proficient in Treasury Systems: Expertise in tools like Quantum, Refinitiv/Eikon, or Bloomberg is highly desirable.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret economic data and its impact on financial markets, along with strong numeracy and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to manage risk and compliance within a complex environment.
