My client is looking for a technically strong Data Engineering professional to lead a team providing both leadership and technical direction as they continue their transition to a modern platform on AWS and Databricks.

You'll support, uplift and ultimately lead the technical delivery of data engineering solutions ensuring these are developed following engineering best-practice principles, inspiring a team of 6-10 through to successful and timely delivery.  A core component of your role well be utilising your technical expertise and depth of experience to build the team capabilities, setting the direction and guiding them through complex solutions, ensuring they are on the right path and growing individually. 

The role sits within the Enterprise Data function, and following the strategic objective of becoming truly data driven… ensuring data is available, in the right place, and at a high-quality to enable data-driven decision making by the business. The team and function is growing (will double in size in 12-18 months) and currently work 2 days a week (flexibly) in the Melbourne CBD office.

Who you are:

• Technical Data Engineering expert and strong with tools such as SQL, Python, AWS and Databricks (or similar - Snowflake, Spark, etc.) 
• Understanding of best practice when it comes to modern cloud data platforms, cloud data architecture, dataops, etc.
• Strong interpersonal skills with confidence, interest or prior experience leading a team.
• Unrestricted working rights (Citizenship or PR)
