Market update June 2024: Technology & Data

In case you missed the T+O+M Talks video, here's a summary from Jeremy Taylor on recruitment activity for Technology & Data mid-2024.

 

Recruitment Trends

  • Job flow has been low-moderate since the start of 2024 as there is still pressure on headcount & a cost-conscious environment
  • Seeing an uptick in software engineering & development, having been hit hardest at the start of FY 23/2
  • Expect job flow to pick up half way through new FYI 24/25 in early 2025

 

Skill sets in demand

  • Software engineering and development, particularly full stack engineers & UX/UI developer
  • Testing – software engineering background for automated testin
  • DevSec Op
  • AI – operational efficiency internally, external benefit for cusomters

 

Advice for candidates

  • Keep salary expectations realistic to be competitive
  • Being open to at least 3 if not 4 days in the office will open up more opportunities

 

Advice for clients

Think about how to tap into the large pool of experienced candidates who have been in their roles for 3-4 years and are thinking of making the next move but are not actively looking in the market nor applying for roles.
